PASSALA

Passala was Mylasa's gateway to the sea from the closest point. It is located on the eastern shore of the Güllük fish weir. A watchtower built with roughly hewn marble blocks, square-planned with loophole-style windows, stands at this location.

The watchtower served as both a defensive structure and a customs checkpoint for ships entering the bay. Its strategic position allowed control over maritime trade routes connecting the interior regions of Caria with the Aegean Sea.
