KINDYA

Kindya is an ancient settlement near Kemikler village, on Mount Kale, that hosted the temple of Artemis Kindyas, the chief goddess of Bargylia. In the 5th century BC, it was one of the powerful cities in the region.

The cult of Artemis Kindyas was particularly important, and the goddess was worshipped throughout Caria. The temple served as a major religious center, drawing pilgrims from neighboring cities.

Archaeological remains at the site include sections of the city walls and foundations of various structures. The location offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
