Berberini Monumental Tomb
Known locally as "Berberini," it is an impressive rock tomb carved into the cliffs behind the Milas city cemetery. The owner of the structure, which stands out with its elegant facade in the Doric order and nested burial chambers, is unknown.
There is a rock tomb carved into the cliff rising behind the city cemetery of Milas. On the facade of this rock tomb, which the locals of Milas call "Berberini," two column reliefs between two piers carved in the Doric style on the sides, and a blind door between them, are visible. Above the piers and columns, there is a two-tiered architrave and a triangular pediment relief above it. The entrance door of the burial chamber is carved slightly below the relief facade. Two benches were created on both sides of the room, again by carving into the rock. The benches extending along the right and left walls of the burial chamber are 3.66 m long and 0.91 meters wide. There is another small room entered through a small door between the two benches. The width of this room, which is approximately 40 cm lower than the floor of the front room, is 1.72 meters. Since there is no inscription, it is unknown for whom this rock tomb was built.
