Aqueducts

Aqueducts

A water channel with a double-tier arch system, built during the Roman Imperial period to bring water to the city from the mountains east of Milas. Ancient marble pieces were also used in its construction.

Aqueducts

Built in the plain section as a double-tier arch structure using recycled river stones to bring water to the city from the mountains east of Milas. At the beginning and end sections, the connection of the aqueducts was provided with low arches or underground channels suitable for the terrain structure. Many marble architectural pieces from ancient structures were also used in the construction of the aqueducts. Although some sections are still standing, most of it has collapsed.

In Şevketiye District, it extends from the southern slope of Esentepe to the large bathhouse built in the Roman era. A branch separating from here connects to Baltali Gate.

The aqueducts between Milas - Beçin, probably built during the Roman Imperial period, have almost completely disappeared. One of the two square-planned structures connected to this waterway is behind the Milas Health Center. The second structure is just on the northern edge of the Milas - Muğla Highway.
