Güllük is the gateway of Milas to the sea and an important tourism district. The settlement, formerly known as "Küllük" and renamed in 1933, features immigrant culture from the population exchange period, historic stone buildings, and small bay beaches.
The town developed significantly following the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey, when Greek Orthodox residents departed and Muslim immigrants from Greece arrived. This cultural mix is still reflected in the architecture and local traditions.
Today, Güllük is known for its marina, seafood restaurants, and as a starting point for visits to nearby ancient sites. The town offers a relaxed atmosphere compared to larger resort areas.
