The site is particularly notable for its well-preserved Hellenistic fortifications and the stunning natural setting between the mountains and Lake Bafa. The area also contains important Byzantine monasteries and hermitages.
Today, the village of Kapıkırı sits among the ancient ruins, offering visitors a unique experience of living history. The lake, formed when the ancient gulf was cut off from the sea, provides a dramatic backdrop to the archaeological site.
