Social Security Inspectors Ogün Yaygın and Okan Sevindi, who are assigned to the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Social Security, visited the Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MİTSO) and met with Board Chairman Reşit Özer and Board Treasurer Soner Çamlıbelen.

During the meeting, the inspectors emphasized that combating informal employment is of great importance for workers, employers, and public finances. The meeting highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that inspections regarding reports and complaints will continue, and that widespread and intensive inspections will be launched by the end of the year without distinction by sector.

The inspectors noted that employing uninsured workers carries serious administrative fines and reminded employers that they must ensure employees’ insurance registrations are completed at least one day before they begin work to avoid such penalties.

Emphasizing that the fight against informal employment would prevent unfair competition among businesses, the inspectors stated that ensuring employees have social security would increase workplace loyalty and productivity, and secure the social and economic future of workers and their families. It was also noted that a decrease in the rate of informal employment could contribute to lower insurance premium costs in the long term, and that formal employment is one of the fundamental elements of a sustainable economy and fair competition.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, MİTSO Board of Directors Chairman Reşit Özer thanked the Social Security Inspectors and stated that they would continue to fulfill their responsibility in the fight against informal employment.
