The works carried out within the scope of the “Project to Develop Olive Growing in Milas”, initiated in cooperation with the Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Milas Municipality, and the Olive Research Institute, continue at full speed.
Survey studies and various applications are carried out regularly every month in the application gardens determined within the scope of the project. The main purpose of the project is to develop the most efficient olive production model for the Milas region, suitable for changing climate and economic conditions.
In the controls made, the steps to be applied are determined by deciding together with the producers. Thanks to this approach, the active participation of the producer in the process is ensured and the adoption of the proposed applications becomes easier.
In the survey studies conducted in June, an irrigation program was created for the application gardens. In addition, the application follow-up of the previously determined plant nutrition program was carried out. Diseases and pests that may occur during the period were evaluated by taking into account the economic damage threshold, and interventions were planned if deemed necessary.
With the controls to be continued regularly in this way every month, developments in the field will be followed instantly and necessary applications will be carried out on time.
One of the main objectives of the project is to carry out sustainable studies aimed at solving the problems faced by olive growing in the Milas region by strengthening institutional cooperation between project partners and the Olive Research Institute.
