High Turnout at MİTSO’s Information Session on Fire Safety and Licensing Regulations
Hosted by the Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MİTSO), an important informational meeting was held regarding the amendments to the Regulation on Business Establishment and Operation Licenses, which entered into force upon publication in the Official Gazette on January 10, 2026. The meeting, which addressed the regulations regarding fire safety compliance reports and fire safety procedures for workplaces, drew significant attention due to its high turnout.
The opening remarks were delivered by Reşit Özer, Chairman of the MİTSO Board of Directors. Özer emphasized that the amendments particularly affect many businesses, especially accommodation facilities, and stressed the importance of members being prepared for the process.
Attendees included Milas Deputy Mayor Ali Özgür, Milas Council Chairman Mustafa Yüksel, MİTSO Board of Directors Vice Chairman Hasan Tiryakioğlu, Drivers’ Association President Nurol Paskal, MİTSO Council Member Mustafa Turhan, and Milas Tourism Advisor Burcu Saylak. Additionally, the meeting drew significant interest from hotel operators active in Milas, Güllük, and Ören, alongside chamber members, with the broad participation of sector representatives being particularly notable.
At the meeting, comprehensive presentations were delivered by Mustafa Çiftci, Acting Director of the Prevention Department at the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, and Ali Korkmaz, Chief of the Milas Municipality Public Order Department. The presentations provided detailed information on fire safety compliance reports that businesses must obtain under the new regulations, fire safety standards, inspection processes, and deadlines for addressing deficiencies.
The officials emphasized that the precautions required, particularly regarding fire safety, are of great importance for both life and property safety, while also noting that businesses failing to make the necessary adjustments within the timeframes specified by the regulation could face serious penalties.
The meeting concluded after participants’ questions were answered and a discussion took place. MİTSO officials stated that such meetings aimed at informing members would continue.
